Our bed blanket is made from four layers of organic cotton gauze with unbelievable loft and softness. It's thicker than a bed sheet, yet breathable and lightweight. For children who started out with our baby blanket, the same softness and texture in their bed sheet helps the transition to a big kid bed, or makes their current bed a more comfortable place. *The crinkled state of gauze is achieved with washing and drying. The weave of the fabric appears flat prior to washing. It crinkles up with laundering, and may become more textured via successive launderings--achieving the appearance you see in our product photos. (We include this information on an insert that comes with the product.)
